Yes! 100%. We use a combonation of the finest oils and butters, essential oils, clays and botanicals. All of these ingredients are straight from mother earth and no synthetic or unsustainable ingredients are added.

This means no palm oil, no toxins, no fragrance oils, no synthetic colorants, no preservatives, no foaming agents.

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the sourcing of palm oil. The global demand for this oil has been a major driver of deforestation of some of the world’s most biodiverse forests and has destroyed the habitat of several already endangered species. Because of the extreme demand for palm oil, this has become a very complex issue that is fueled by financial motives. It is more than challenging to confirm with certainty that the companies claiming to carry sustainably and ethically sourced palm oil are being transparent. Therefore, we believe the best thing that we can do is choose to use oils that are easily sustainably and ethically sourced.

Our soap is made by hand in small batches, the old-fashioned way! We combine a combination of vegan plant butters and oils with a lye solution to create a beautifully balanced bar of soap. The oils are ‘saponified’ by the lye, and soap is created. Saponification is a chemical reaction between a base (lye) and an acid (oils) to form soap (salt). Soap is considered a salt because it’s composed of a mixture of sodium salts of various naturally occurring fatty acids.

Yes. Sodium hydroxide and/or potassium hydroxide is otherwise known as lye. If soap isn’t made with lye, it’s not soap. If lye isn’t used, then the product falls under some other category such as detergent. You might notice that lye is not an ingredient listed on soap. This is because after the soap goes through saponification, absolutely no lye exists in the final product.
